Facebook and Instagram to Introduce Labels on AI-generated Content Starting Next Month

Announcement of Labeling AI-generated Content on Facebook and Instagram

Meta, the company that owns social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, has announced that starting next month, they will be labeling content generated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.

In addition to this, Meta will also label edited images and videos on all three platforms, making it easier for viewers to distinguish whether the content is AI-generated or edited.

Meta stated in a blog post that as part of enhancing and modifying its safety policies, all types of AI-generated images and videos will be labeled from next month onwards to indicate that they are created using artificial intelligence.

Similarly, videos and images based on edited or false information will also be labeled.

According to Meta, the labeling feature will be introduced on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, and after identifying videos and images through AI, labels will be applied to them.

Users themselves will also be able to label videos and images created using AI tools with the help of AI tools, and the company will also label content based on other users' feedback.

Meta mentioned that the company's AI system will analyze images and videos uploaded and attach labels to them after a certain period.

Interestingly, at present, a lot of AI-generated content is becoming viral on Meta's platforms, and all companies are also introducing such tools through which AI content can be created.

Facebook has also introduced several such tools that can be used to enhance content.

After the proliferation of AI content on social media platforms, many individuals are also falling victim to confusion, unable to differentiate between real and AI-generated content.
