How Energy Drinks Affect Children's Mental Health, Research: A recent study has revealed that energy drinks are associated with an increase in restlessness, mental stress, depression, and risks such as substance abuse in children.

According to researchers from Newcastle University in the UK, the consumption of energy drinks in children is linked to educational dysfunction, sleep issues, and unhealthy eating habits.

Dr. Shelina Visram, a co-author of the study, stated that the results obtained from the research are causing significant concern among researchers. According to them, energy drinks could be a contributing factor to psychological pressure and mental health issues. These are critical public health issues that require attention.

Dr. Shelina mentioned that it is time for swift actions regarding initiatives related to the rapid spread of soft drinks in the market.

Researchers have urged the British government to take action against the sale of energy drinks to individuals under the age of 16 because these beverages are more affordable than water for young people.

In a review of research, scientists analyzed health data obtained from 57 studies. More than 1.2 million children and adolescents from over 21 countries participated in these studies.

Scientists observed in the research that individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 who consumed energy drinks daily experienced a reduction in the duration of their sleep compared to those who never drank or occasionally drank such beverages.

Researchers found that individuals who consumed more energy drinks took less sleep compared to those who consumed fewer quantities. The caffeine and sugar content in these beverages seem to be related to the observed effects.

It is crucial to address these findings and consider regulatory measures to protect the well-being of children and adolescents about energy drink consumption.
