Canada's federal immigration minister Mark Miller announced that people living in Canada without legal documents will be issued permanent resident cards and thus gain legal status.

The decision will benefit millions of refugees, including those whose work permits or international student visas have expired.

According to the Minister of Immigration, the decision to give legal status to illegal immigrants is part of the plan to give immigration to 500,000 people in Canada by 2025.


It should be noted that there are 300,000 to 600,000 people living in Canada without legal documents and they include illegal immigrants whose deportation orders have been issued.
